With another non bonus year on Wall Street, Manhattan’s own largest residential consumer is not on the market. The bankers and brokers who are getting bonuses are receiving them in company options, or the bonuses are smaller and they are choosing to invest that money in NYC’s outer boroughs.
Since the start of 2008 about 24% of our buyers have been from outside the United States. Not only are they the most interested buyer right now, for the most part they do not look for financing. In this poor banking environment we are seeing once qualified buyers who are in contract run crazed before closings because their once reliable commitment letter just changed on them due to an unknown contigency.
